Mrs. Indira Gandhi, daughter of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on November 19, 1917 in a prestigious family. He educated from major institutions such as Peoples on School, Badminton School, Bristol, Visva-Bharati, Shanti Niketan and Summerville College, Oxford, located in Ecole Nouvelle, Bax (Switzerland), Ecole Internationale, Geneva, Poona and Bombay. Mrs. Indira Gandhi was active in the freedom struggle from the very beginning. She was Vice President of the National Integration Council of AIC and in 1956, All India Youth Congress and AICC She became the President of the Women's Department. She was the President of the Indian National Congress from 1959 to 1960. In January 1978, he took the position again.
He served as the Information and Broadcasting Minister from 1966-1964. After that, he was the Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977. Along with that, he was made the Minister of Atomic Energy from September 1967 to March 1977. He took over the additional charge of the Ministry of External Affairs from 5 September 1967 to 14 February 1969. Mrs. Gandhi took charge of the Ministry of Space from June 1970 to November 1973, from the Ministry of Home Affairs and from June 1972 to March 1977. He has been the Chairman of the Planning Commission since January 1980. On 14 January 1980, he again became the Prime Minister.
Mrs. Indira Gandhi was associated with organizations and institutions like Kamala Nehru Smriti Hospital, Gandhi Smarak Nidhi and Kasturba Gandhi Smriti Trust. He was the President of Swaraj Bhawan Trust. In 1955, she was associated with Child Support, Bal Bhawan Board and National Museum of Children. Mrs. Gandhi was a member of the Rajya Sabha from August 1964 to February 1967. He was a member of the Lok Sabha in the fourth, fifth and sixth semester. In January 1980, he was elected to the seventh Lok Sabha from Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh) and Medak (Andhra Pradesh). He left the seat of Rae Bareli and selected the seat in Medak. He was elected as the Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party in 1967-77 and then in January 1980.

According to the US Special Gallup Polls survey in 1971, she was the most popular woman in the world.
