K. R. Narayanan (Kohli Raman Narayanan) was the tenth President of India He was the first Dalit to get the post of President. Narayanan was born and grew up in a very poor family. They had to walk miles away to reach their school. They had to stand out of their class and had to attend lecture because their fees were always left.

Along with such difficulties, Narayanan was first in the postgraduate study from the University of Kerala. Soon after, he moved to Delhi and worked as a journalist and when he intend to go to UK to study economics, then JRD Tata, the wealthy and famous industrialist of India, helped him.

He completed his studies with the London School of Economics and as soon as he came back, he was appointed as an Indian Foreign Service Officer. During his service, he distinguished himself as one of the best politicians of the country. He joined politics on Indira Gandhi's request and served as minister in Rajiv Gandhi's cabinet. Later, he was elected to serve as Vice-President and President of India.
Early life and Education
Mr. Narayanan's family was not financially financially, but his father knew the importance of education. His early education took place in Ujjwor's under-elementary school. Here he was nominated as a student of the school on 5th May, 1927, whereas he studied upto 1931-1935 in High Primary School Ujhavur. They had to go to school for 15 kilometers on foot and had to go through rice fields. At that time the education fee was very simple, but it was also difficult to give it. Shri Narayanan had to stand outside the classroom and listen to the lessons taught in the class because he was thrown out of the classroom due to lack of education fee. He did not have any money to buy books. Then for the help of his younger brother. R. Narayanan used to give books to Nilakantan students and took his copy and gave it to Narayanan. Due to asthma, the sick Nilkantan lived at home. Narayanan passed matriculation examination from St. Mary High School in 1936-37. Prior to this, in 1935-36, he also studied at St. Mary Jones High School Koothatukulam.

Under the scholarship, Shri Narayanan conducted the Intermediate Examination, 1938-40, in Kottayam, CSM. Passed from the school. After this, he passed the Bachelor level examination in Arts (Hons). Then in the English Literature, he passed the post-graduate examination in 1943 from the Travancore University (now it is the University of Kerala). Earlier, any Dalit student in Travancore University did not get first place. When his family was facing difficulties, then in 1944-45, Shri Narayanan worked as a journalist in 'The Hindu' and 'The Times of India'. On 10th April, 1945, he took the interview of Mahatma Gandhi in Mumbai, playing the religion of journalism. After that he moved to England in 1945 and studied political science in the 'London School of Economics'. He b. s. C.E. Economics (Honors) degree and specialization in political science. During this time R. D. Tata helped him by giving scholarship to them. Shri Narayanan was also active in the India League. Then V.K. Krishna Menon was in charge of the India League in England. Of it. N. The Social Welfare, published by Munshi, was also London-based correspondent of the Weekly Newspaper. There were also Veerasamy Ringadu, who was living with him in London, who later became the President of Mauritius. At this time there was also another strong friend of Trudeau, who later became the Prime Minister of Canada.

Political Life
The entry of Shri Narayanan's politics was possible by the insistence of Mrs. Indira Gandhi. He won parliamentary elections in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 1984, 1989 and 1991. It was elected from the Lok Sabha seat of Ottappal (Kerala). After being a Congress MP, he was inducted into the Union Cabinet of the Rajiv Gandhi Government. As a minister, he took charge of the Planning (1985), Foreign Affairs (1985-86) and Science and Technology (1986-89) departments. As an MP, he controlled international patent law in India. In 1989-91, when Congress was out of power, Shri Narayanan remained in the role of Opposition MP. When the Congress returned to power in 1991, they were not included in the cabinet. Then the Chief Minister of Kerala. Karunakaran, who was his political opponent, informed him that the reasons for not being included in the Union Cabinet were his pro-communist policy. Then he replied that I had defeated the Communist candidates (AK Balan and Lenin Rajendran) in the election three times in the election. So how can I be a supporter of communist ideology.

Shri Narayanan was elected Vice President on August 21, 1992, during the presidency of Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma. Their name was primarily approved by V. P. Singh. After that, the Left Front declared itself its candidate by the Janata Party parliamentary leadership. The Congress led by PV Narasimha Rao also showed them a green flag in the form of candidates. Thus, he will be the unanimous candidate for the post of Vice President. On the Left Front, Narayanan clarified that he was never a fanatical supporter or an opponent of the communist. The Left Front understood his ideological difference, but he still supported him in the Vice Presidential election and later also in the presidential election. Thus, with the support of the Left Front, Narayanan benefited and their political status was accepted. When the Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992, he described the incident as 'the biggest tragedy in the country after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.'
Presidency
The result of the presidential election on July 14, 1997, when it was announced on July 17, 1997, it was known that Mr. Narayanan received 95 percent of the total valid votes. This was the only presidential election that ended with a minority government at the center. It includes former Election Commissioner TN Seshan was a rival candidate. All the parties except the Shiv Sena voted in favor of Narayanan, while the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh opposed them saying that they believe that the basis of winning Indian culture is to be their dalit. Respect
Mr. K. R. Narayanan also wrote some books, which include 'India and America Essays in Understanding', 'Images and Insights' and 'Non Alignment in Contemporary International Nilations'. He also received many awards at the national and international level. In 1998, he was given the 'World Statesman Award' by 'The Appeal of Conscience Foundation', New York. 'Toledo University', the US gave him the title of 'Doctor of Science' and 'University of Australia' as the Doctor of Laws. Similarly, in the political science, he was awarded the doctorate degree from Turkey and San Carlos University. This true saint of Bharat Mata will be remembered forever who was a better person than the President.
Death
Mr. K. R. Narayanan passed away on November 9, 2005 in Army Research and Referral Hospital, New Delhi. They had pneumonia. Then they died due to not doing kidney work. On November 10, 2005, during the sunset, with full state honors, his niece Dr. P. V. Ramachandran performed 'Ekta Sath' on the banks of Yamuna river.
