India's Fourteenth Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has been well-acclaimed as a thinker and a scholar. He is well-considered for his hard work and his academic approach, as well as his reach and his humble behavior.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in a village in undivided India, Punjab province. Dr. Singh completed his matriculation examination from Punjab University in 1948. His academic career took him from Punjab University to Cambridge University, UK, where he received First Class Honors Degree in Economics in 1957. Dr. Singh completed the Phil from Oxford University in Economics from Nophiled College in 1962. His book, "India's Trade Trends and Prospects for Self-Growth" [Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1964] was the initial criticism of India's inwardly oriented trade policy.

Dr. Singh's academic identity was filled with the years spent in the University of Punjab University and the prestigious Delhi School of Economics years. During these years, he also had a short tenure in the UNCTAD Secretariat. It recommended the subsequent appointment between the Secretary-General of the South Commission in Geneva between 1987 and 1990. In 1971, Dr. Singh joined the Government of India as an economic advisor in the Ministry of Commerce. It was soon after its appointment in 1972 as Chief Economic Advisor in the Ministry of Finance. Among the many government posts, Dr. Singh has taken over the Secretary in the Ministry of Finance; Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission; Governor of the Reserve Bank of India; Advisor to the Prime Minister; And was the Chairman of the University Grants Commission.

To become a turning point in the history of independent India, Dr. Singh spent five years as finance minister of India between 1991 and 1996. His role in formulating a comprehensive policy of economic reforms is now recognized worldwide. Dr. Singh has represented India in many international conferences and in many international organizations. In 1993, he led the Indian delegation to the Commonwealth Heads' Government meeting in Cyprus (1993) and the World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna. In his political career, Dr. Singh was a member of the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) of the Parliament of India from 1991, where he was the leader of the opposition between 1998 and 2004. Dr. Manmohan Singh was sworn in as the Prime Minister at the 22nd place, after the general election of 2004, on May and 22nd May 2009 the office took oath of office for the second term. Dr. Singh and his wife Smt. Gursharan Kaur have three daughters.
