R. Venkatraman or Ramaswamy Venkatraman was the eighth President of India. Former Vice-President also had his own office He became president at the age of 77. Earlier, Vice-President Dr. Radhakrishnan, Doctor Zakir Hussain and V.V. Giri was the only one. Their sequence was the fourth. He took oath of office on July 25, 1987. It was a coincidence that 35 years ago when the country's first President Rajendra Prasad took oath, Mr. Venkataraman was also present in the same room of Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Life Introduction Birth
Ramaswamy Venkataraman was born on December 4, 1910 in Rajaradam village, which falls in Thanjavur district of Madras. Now it is known as Tamil Nadu. His father's name was Ramaswamy Iyer. His father used to practice advocacy in Thanjavur district.

Student Life
Ramaswamy Venkataraman's primary education was completed in Thanjavur. After this he successfully passed other examinations. He then received a postgraduate degree in economics from Madras University, Madras. After attaining education, there were two options in front of them - job of British rule or independently advocate. He chose the second option and got enrolled in the Madras High Court in 1935 AD. They did not want to be enslaved by becoming British slaves.
Political Life
There was a direct eye of Radhaswamy Venkataraman on the farming conditions of Thanjavur district. He also wanted to improve the situation. He also attended the convention of 'Metal Business Committee' in 1952, which was organized under the aegis of the International Labor Union. They gained great popularity with their involvement in law and trade union. Being in touch with advocacy and trade unions, it was also attracted towards politics.

Activism in Freedom struggle
Mr. Venkataraman contributed legally to the independence of India. But during the Quit India Movement of 1942, he became fully active in freedom struggle. They were arrested by the British government and put in jail for two years. After release in 1944, it became more interested in various matters of government. Together with Kamaraj this year, he established the labor force in the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. As its in-charge, they continue to work in the committee's office. Soon he became a successful 'Trade Union Leader'.

Introduction of 'Labor Law' magazine
Ramaswamy Venkataraman fought various wars in the interest of the employees and also solved their problems. He used to solve problems with conversations and interactions. But when it was only in the interest of the law, it was a legal battle. In 1949, he started the journal 'Labor Law'. This journal has received specific recognition in labor law journalism. Though there were good relations with many journalists, he wanted that journalists should fulfill their duties with integrity and the principles of journalism should be an integral part of their karmakashetra.

Member of Parliament and Minister
Mr. Venkatraman has never been craving for posts, although in 1957 elections he became a Member of Parliament. He renounced the membership of the Lok Sabha and became a minister in Madras state government. Of this time Kamraj was the Chief Minister of Madras. Kamaraj retained his political talent when he was handed over the Cabinet of Ministers from the Ministry of Industry, Labor, Transport, Cooperative, Commercial Tax and Energy from 1957 to 1967. On October 2, 1975, till Kamaraj's death, it remained his helper friend.

Defense Minister

Venkataraman was the Defense Minister of the country from January 15, 1982 to August 2, 1984. In addition, he had to take charge of the Ministry of Industry from 16th January, 1980 to 9th August, 1981. Similarly, from June 28, 1982 to September 2, 1982, he also took charge of the Home Affairs Ministry.

Vice President
It was decided by the Congress party to appoint Shri Ramaswamy Venkataraman as the Vice President of the country. On August 22, 1984, he took charge as Vice-President. He also became the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha as Vice President. His work as an ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha was appreciated not only by the Congress but by the opposition.
Presidency
About 25 months after becoming the Vice President, the Congress was to be elected president of the country. Giani Zail Singh's term was about to end. Under this, on July 15, 1987, he was declared the eighth elected President of the Republic of India. On 24 July 1987, he resigned from the Vice President. On July 25, 1987, at the midnight at 12:15 in the Central Hall of the Parliament House, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court R.S. The reader administered the oath of office to the President and confidentiality. At this time Mr. Venkataraman had kept white churidar pajamas and black sherwani. He sworn in the English language.

In front of Mr. Venkataraman, many difficulties came in the form of President, but he managed to secure the country safely with political storms. In 1990, Vishwanath Pratap Singh's government came in a minority and it collapsed. During the May-June 1991 assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the country was surrounded by challenges. But he had complete confidence in the public that he would introduce intelligent and political foresight in difficulties too.
Honours and Awards
R. Venkataraman received many awards and honors. Madras, Burdwan and Nagarjuna universities honored him with 'Doctorate of Law' (Honary). Madras Medical College honored him with 'Honorary Fellow' and 'Roorkee University' by Doctor of Social Sciences. He was given a 'copper letter' to participate in the Independence Movement of India and K. He was awarded the Soviet Land Prize for his travelogue on the tour of Kamaraj's socialist countries. United Nations General Secretary honored him for his services in the United Nations Administrative Tribunal. Shankaracharya of Kanchipuram honored him with 'Sat Seva Ratna'.
Death
On January 12, 2009, he was admitted to the Army's New Delhi hospital. Their condition deteriorated day after day and eventually they left the world on January 27, 2009.
