Silvassa, the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, is a quiet tribal town popular for its amazing natural beauty and beautiful tourist spots. On a tour to Silvassa, it is advisable not to miss the Swaminarayan Temple. This temple is famous especially among the Gujrati devotees and the structure is almost a replica to the cSwami Narayan Akshardhamd in Gandhinagar.
This architectural masterpiece is situated on the banks of river Daman Ganga, on Silvassa Bhilad road. The temple complex is considerably new and comprises of the huge temple along with wide green lawns surrounding it. The temple complex is dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan and has an intricately carved central Mandir built entirely from a special light pink coloured marble rock, with no structural steel or cement being used.
The temple opens at around 11.30 am everyday with the melodious prayer chant and aarti by the priests, accompanied by Nagara (or drums) and bells. The Bhagwan idol is gorgeously dressed like an emperor, with a blue sherwani coat and a grand turban along with dazzling jewellery. The idol dresses differently in different occasion, maintaining the pomp and grandeur.
